Did you know?
- Despite being called 'antbears' or 'earth pigs', aardvarks are the only living species in their order, Tubulidentata.
- The aardvark is the only living member of its entire order, and is not related to anteaters or pangolins. Its teeth have no enamel β they are bundles of dentine tubes that grow continuously. It digs faster than several people with shovels, and its abandoned burrows house warthogs, hyenas, porcupines and owls. The aardvark cucumber fruits underground and relies on the aardvark to dig it up and bury its seeds.
