Did you know?
- The Addax can go almost indefinitely without drinking water, obtaining nearly all the moisture it needs from the plants it eats.
- Addax appear in Egyptian tomb art from around 2500 BC, shown tethered and being fattened, suggesting they were kept in semi-captivity thousands of years before modern ranching. There are now vastly more addax on Texan and Arabian game ranches and in zoos than in the entire Sahara. Their splayed hooves leave a broad, shallow track that experienced trackers can distinguish from any other Sahelian antelope at a glance.
