- The Alaskan Malamute is one of the oldest Arctic sled dog breeds, developed by the native Mahlemut people of Alaska thousands of years ago.
- Alaskan Malamutes have been used in polar expeditions and even served in World War II as search and rescue dogs. Their signature howling vocalizations are reminiscent of their wolf ancestors. Despite their size, they are known for being affectionate and playful with their human families.
