- Despite their fearsome appearance and power, alligator snapping turtles are primarily sit-and-wait predators that conserve energy by remaining motionless for hours at a time.
- Alligator Snapping Turtles use a pink, worm-like lure on their tongue to attract fish. They rarely leave the water except to nest. Their bite is one of the strongest among turtles and can easily crush bone.
