- Alpine Newts have been introduced to areas outside their native range, including the United Kingdom and New Zealand, where they have established wild populations.
- Alpine Newts can regenerate lost limbs and even parts of their heart and eyes. During the breeding season, males develop a spectacular blue coloration and a crest along their back and tail. Their larvae develop in water and resemble tiny fish before undergoing metamorphosis.
