- Despite their striking appearance and secretions, Amazon Milk Frogs are not dangerous to humans and are often kept as exotic pets.
- Amazon Milk Frogs have specialized toe pads that allow them to grip smooth, wet surfaces in the rainforest. Their milky secretion is mildly toxic and deters would-be predators. Unlike many frogs, their skin has a rubbery texture, helping them retain moisture in their humid habitat.
