- Andean Condors can travel over 200 kilometers (124 miles) in a single day while searching for food.
- The Andean condor spends barely one percent of its flight time flapping — it can stay aloft for hours on a single takeoff. Getting airborne is so costly that it roosts on cliffs and ledges, using height and wind to launch. Unusually for a raptor, the male is larger than the female and has a fleshy crest. It can travel over a hundred kilometres in a day without landing.
