- When threatened, this newt can arch its back and push out its ribs to expose toxic glands, making it less appealing to predators.
- Anderson's Crocodile Newt can secrete toxins from its skin as a defense mechanism. Its bumpy, ridged body provides camouflage and a crocodile-like appearance. During the breeding season, it migrates to shallow pools where females lay eggs attached to submerged vegetation.
