- Apple Snails can close their shells with a special plate called an operculum, sealing themselves off from predators and harsh conditions.
- Apple Snails are one of the few freshwater snails that can lay their eggs above the waterline, producing bright pink clusters. They have both gills and lungs, allowing them to breathe in water and on land. Some Apple Snail species are popular in the aquarium trade, prized for their striking shell colors.
