Did you know?
- The Armadillo girdled lizard can go several months without drinking water, deriving most of its moisture from its insect diet and the dew that forms on rocks.
- Threatened, it bites its own tail and curls into an armoured ring, hiding its soft belly behind a wall of spines. It is social β dozens share the same rock cracks, which is exactly why poachers can take a whole colony at once. It gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs. Females have been recorded feeding their offspring, which is almost unknown in lizards.
