- The silver carp is known for its jumping behavior, which can result in injuries to boaters when startled by the sound of boat motors.
- Asian carp can leap up to 3 meters (10 feet) out of the water when disturbed. Some species can lay over a million eggs in a single spawning season. They were originally introduced to control algae and aquatic weeds in aquaculture and wastewater treatment facilities.
