- Certain assassin bugs in the genus Triatoma, known as kissing bugs, can transmit the parasite that causes Chagas disease in humans.
- Assassin bugs use their needle-like proboscis to inject a potent saliva that liquefies their prey's insides, which they then suck up. Some species exhibit elaborate camouflage, mimicking leaves or twigs to ambush unsuspecting victims. They are known for their complex hunting strategies and can take down prey much larger than themselves.
