Did you know?
- A single female Atlantic cod can produce several million eggs in a single spawning season.
- Atlantic cod have a 'barbel' on their chin used for sensing prey buried in the sea floor. Their liver is especially large and was historically processed into cod liver oil, a major source of vitamin D. Cod can produce grunting sounds using special muscles and their swim bladder.
