- Despite their size and speed, Atlantic sailfish are sometimes preyed upon by larger predators like sharks and killer whales.
- The sailfish's dorsal fin can be raised or lowered like a sail, helping it maneuver and corral prey. Sailfish can change color rapidly using specialized skin cells called chromatophores, often turning vibrant blue with vertical stripes when excited or hunting.
