- Despite their gelatinous appearance, Atlantic sea nettles are composed of about 95% water.
- Atlantic sea nettles can contract and relax their bell to move through the water, but they are mostly carried by currents. Their stings can immobilize small prey, and despite their sometimes painful sting, they are not considered dangerous to humans.
