- Despite their name, Atlantic slipper limpets are not true limpets but are more closely related to snails.
- Atlantic slipper limpets can change sex from male to female as they grow. They often form chains of up to 12 individuals stacked on top of each other. This species has become invasive in several parts of the world beyond its native range.
