- The Azawakh is one of the few dog breeds that originated and evolved alongside the nomadic peoples of the Sahara Desert, adapting specifically to harsh, hot, and arid climates.
- Azawakhs can reach running speeds up to 64 km/h (40 mph). Unlike many sighthounds, they are known to form strong bonds with their families and are highly protective. Their unique gait and upright posture set them apart from other similar breeds.
