Babyrousa celebensis

Did you know?
- Babirusas are one of the few wild pig species where the males' tusks can actually curve back and pierce their own heads if they are not broken or worn down naturally.
- The babirusa's name means 'pig-deer' in Malay due to its unusual appearance. Unlike most pigs, babirusas have a nearly hairless, grayish skin and long, slender legs, making them agile in dense forests. Malesβ upper tusks can sometimes grow so long that they penetrate their own skulls if not worn down.
