- Bamboo worms are a traditional snack in northern Thailand, often fried until crispy. They are sometimes called 'bamboo caterpillars' and are popular for their nutty flavor. The larvae tunnel through bamboo stems, which can sometimes be detected by the droppings at the openings of their holes.
