- Despite possessing highly toxic venom, the banded sea krait is very docile and bites humans only in extreme self-defense.
- Banded sea kraits can spend hours underwater but must regularly surface to breathe air. Unlike most sea snakes, they frequently come onto land to rest and lay eggs. Their striking coloration serves as a warning to predators about their potent venom.
