- Some barramundi can grow over 1.8 meters (6 feet) in length, making them one of the largest fish in their range.
- Barramundi can travel between fresh and saltwater during their life cycle. They are protandrous hermaphrodites, meaning most start life as males and later become females. The name 'barramundi' comes from an Aboriginal word meaning 'large-scaled river fish.'
