Did you know?
- A Bengal tiger's roar can be heard up to 3 kilometers (almost 2 miles) away.
- White tigers are not albinos, not a subspecies, and not "rare in the wild" โ they are the product of a recessive pigmentation mutation, and essentially every white tiger in captivity descends from a single male, Mohan, caught in India in 1951, which is why they are so heavily inbred. Tigers have been recorded swimming several kilometres of open water. There are more tigers in captivity in the United States alone than remain in the wild worldwide.
