- Bernese Mountain Dogs were traditionally trained to pull carts, and there are still cart-pulling competitions held for them today.
- Bernese Mountain Dogs are one of four Swiss Mountain Dog breeds, but they are the only one with a long, silky coat. They are known for their 'Berner lean,' where they affectionately press against their owners. Their gentle temperament makes them excellent therapy dogs.
