- Despite their bright coloring, bicolor goatfish can become nearly invisible to predators by adjusting their coloration to match the reef background.
- Bicolor goatfish can rapidly change color to blend in with their environment. They often forage in small groups, stirring up the sand to uncover hidden invertebrates. Their 'beard'—the barbels—is highly sensitive and packed with chemoreceptors.
