- Despite their delicate appearance, Black-necked Stilts are fiercely protective parents and will aggressively defend their nests against much larger intruders.
- Black-necked Stilts have some of the longest legs in proportion to their body size of any bird. They perform elaborate distraction displays to protect their nests from predators. Their distinctive call is often heard before the bird is seen.
