Did you know?
- Unlike most swans, the Black-necked Swan is mute and communicates mainly through soft whistles and grunts.
- Black-necked Swans are the only swan species with a bright red knob at the base of the bill. Chicks are born with entirely white plumage, only developing the characteristic black neck as they mature. These swans are excellent swimmers, even at a very young age.
