- Blanding's Turtles do not reach sexual maturity until they are 14 to 20 years old, one of the latest ages among North American turtles.
- Blanding's Turtles can live for more than 80 years and remain reproductively active into old age. They are known for their bright yellow chin and throat, which help distinguish them from other turtles. Unlike many turtles, they often travel long distances over land to reach nesting sites or new wetlands.
