- A Bloodhound's nose contains approximately 300 million scent receptors—far more than most other dog breeds.
- Bloodhounds have the most powerful sense of smell among dog breeds, and their scent evidence is admissible in many courts of law. They have been used for centuries in tracking criminals, lost persons, and even other animals. Their long ears and wrinkled skin help to trap scent particles and keep them close to their nose while tracking.
