- The Blue bottle jellyfish is not a single animal but a colony of four different types of polyps, each with a unique role.
- Despite their jellyfish-like appearance, blue bottles are colonies of specialized individuals working together. Their tentacles can extend up to 10 meters in length. They are often found washed up in massive numbers after strong onshore winds.
