- The Bobbit worm is named after a notorious 1990s incident, but there is no evidence the worm actually bites off appendages.
- Bobbit worms can regenerate lost body segments, making them highly resilient. Their jaws snap shut with such force that they can cut fish in half instantly. Despite their size and striking abilities, they are often missed by divers due to their burrowing behavior.
