- It can open its jaws up to 170 degrees when striking, an unusually wide gape for a snake.
- The Boomslang has highly developed vision, able to see with binocular precision. Its venom is among the most potent of all African snakes, yet it is reluctant to bite humans. Unlike many snakes, Boomslangs often inflate their necks when threatened, displaying warning coloration.
