This frog breathes entirely through its skin, making it exceptionally sensitive to pollution and changes in water quality.
The Borneo Flat-headed Frog is the only known frog without lungs. Its flat body shape is an adaptation for life in swift currents. It was first described in 1978, and sightings remain extremely rare.
