- Despite their name, Brookesia chameleon shrimps are not related to chameleons or reptiles—they are crustaceans named for their chameleon-like camouflage abilities.
- Brookesia chameleon shrimps can rapidly change their color and texture, making them incredibly difficult to spot. They have specialized appendages that help them cling to seagrass and algae. Unlike many shrimp, they often remain motionless for long periods to avoid detection.
