- Algae often grow in the Brown-Throated Sloth’s fur, giving it a greenish tint that helps with camouflage in the treetops.
- Brown-Throated Sloths are excellent swimmers and can hold their breath underwater for up to 40 minutes. They descend from the trees only about once a week to defecate, a behavior still not fully understood by scientists.
