- Unlike most owls, Burrowing Owls are often active during the day, especially during the early morning and late afternoon.
- Burrowing Owls often decorate their burrow entrances with animal dung and other objects to attract insects for food. They are known for their unusual habit of bobbing up and down when alarmed and for making a rattling sound to mimic rattlesnakes as a defense mechanism.
