Did you know?
- Despite their toxic skin, some garter snakes have evolved resistance and are one of the few predators capable of eating California newts.
- California newts secrete a powerful neurotoxin called tetrodotoxin from their skin, making them highly poisonous to most animals. During courtship, males perform a tail-fanning display to attract females. Their bright orange underside serves as a warning coloration to potential predators.
