Did you know?
- Camel spiders can consume prey nearly their own size thanks to their powerful jaws and digestive enzymes.
- Solifuges have a pair of enormous forward-pointing pedipalps tipped with adhesive organs, used to grab prey and to climb; they look like an extra pair of legs, which is why the animal appears to have ten. A female digs a burrow and, unusually for an arachnid, guards her eggs, fasting while she does so. They can eat an enormous quantity relative to their body size, and captive individuals have gorged until barely able to walk.
