- Certain carrion beetles are able to bury small animal carcasses underground to provide food for their offspring, helping to reduce competition and predation.
- Carrion beetles are vital decomposers, breaking down dead animals and recycling nutrients back into the ecosystem. Some species exhibit parental care, with adults guarding their larvae and feeding them regurgitated food. Their keen sense of smell allows them to locate carcasses from long distances.
