- The Chinese Water Deer is one of the only deer species in which males and females both lack antlers, instead using their tusks for defense and competition.
- Unlike most deer, Chinese Water Deer do not have antlers but possess long, sharp canine tusks, earning them the nickname 'vampire deer.' They are exceptional swimmers and can escape predators by diving into water. Females can give birth to large litters, sometimes up to six fawns at once.
