- After spawning, all Chinook salmon die, providing vital nutrients to the river ecosystem.
- Chinook salmon undertake some of the longest migrations of any salmon, sometimes traveling over 3,200 km (2,000 miles) upstream to spawn. Their flesh color can vary from white to deep red, depending on their diet. They are prized for their rich, high-fat flesh, making them a favorite among chefs and anglers.
