- Cleaner wrasses are so trusted that even predatory fish allow them to clean inside their mouths without harming them.
- Cleaner wrasses perform a 'dance' to attract client fish and signal their cleaning intentions. Some fish will travel considerable distances to visit a cleaner wrasse at a cleaning station. In rare cases, cleaner wrasses may 'cheat' by taking a bite of healthy tissue instead of just parasites.
