- Unlike many frogs, Columbia Spotted Frogs are active during the day and can often be seen basking in the sun along the water's edge.
- Columbia Spotted Frogs can survive in high-elevation mountain lakes up to 3,000 meters. During winter, they hibernate at the bottom of ponds or buried in mud to avoid freezing. Their skin must stay moist to allow for cutaneous respiration, which means they breathe partially through their skin.
