- Despite being venomous, the Common European Adder is responsible for very few serious bites, and fatalities are extremely rare.
- Unlike many other snakes, the Common European Adder gives birth to live young rather than laying eggs. It is the only venomous snake native to Great Britain. The adder performs a dramatic 'dance' during the mating season, where rival males intertwine and wrestle for dominance.
