- Lionfish are one of the fastest-growing marine invasive species in the Atlantic, causing significant declines in native fish populations due to their voracious appetites and lack of natural predators.
- Lionfish can consume prey up to half their own body size, and they have been recorded eating over 50 different species of fish. Their venomous spines can cause severe pain to humans, but are primarily used to deter natural predators.
