- The Common Ostrich holds the title for the fastest running bird, reaching speeds up to 70 km/h (43 mph). Unlike most birds, ostriches have only two toes on each foot, aiding their speed and agility. Their eyes are the largest of any land animal, measuring up to 5 cm in diameter.
