- Common Toads can live for over 40 years in captivity, much longer than in the wild.
- Common Toads produce toxins from their skin that deter many predators. Unlike frogs, they crawl rather than leap. During breeding migrations, large numbers of toads can be seen crossing roads, sometimes with males riding on the backs of females.
