- Despite their tough appearance, warthogs frequently take over abandoned aardvark burrows for shelter and sleep underground.
- Warthogs use their large tusks for defense and digging up roots. When threatened, they can run up to 48 km/h. They often kneel on their calloused front knees while grazing.
