- Despite its name, the Crucifix Toad is actually a frog, not a true toad.
- The Crucifix Toad is one of the only frogs known to produce a natural adhesive strong enough to trap insects. Its vibrant coloration serves as a warning to predators. During dry periods, it can remain underground in a dormant state for months.
