- The Cuban Tody is one of only five species in the tody family, all of which are found exclusively in the Caribbean.
- Cuban Todies nest in burrows that they excavate in clay banks, often forming tunnels up to 30 cm long. Their vibrant coloration serves as camouflage amidst the lush green vegetation of their habitat. Despite their tiny size, they are fiercely territorial and will defend their nesting sites aggressively.
