- Despite their fierce appearance, Cuvier's Dwarf Caimans are sometimes kept as exotic pets due to their manageable size and relatively shy nature.
- Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman has some of the toughest skin among crocodilians due to its heavy dorsal armor. Juveniles can climb over obstacles and even low branches to evade predators. Unlike larger crocodilians, they are often preyed upon by large snakes and birds of prey.
